Calling all 8th-12th Graders!
Our Youth Group meets (almost) every Wednesday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The layout of each week remains largely the same:
6:30–snacks and hang out time (games, sports (weather permitting), cards, and coloring if you prefer something quieter)
7-8–main session
Discipleship Groups (2 times a month)
Large Group talk/formation (building on what is being discussed in D-Groups)
Revive Night with the Parish (begins at 6:30 with social/SJY specific activities after)
8-8:30–Adoration (mix of silent, guided lectio/meditation, and praise and worship music)
We encourage youth to come every week to continue to build a strong community. If you can’t make it every week, please don’t hesitate to come when you can.
Why are 8th graders included in the high school youth group?
Our Confirmation program begins in 8th grade and ends in 9th grade. The large majority of our Confirmation preparation takes place in Discipleship Groups, and since our high schoolers also participate in D-Groups, 8th graders are invited to join in on all high school events.

Why Discipleship Groups?
It is easy to come to a large youth group every week and not feel known. It’s also easier to hide that way and allow our faith to remain surface-level. We have seen the importance of small groups as a way to more intentionally get to know one another and hold each other accountable. The term “Discipleship” Group points to our desire that our youth group not just be a program high schoolers can attend but an opportunity to learn to follow Christ so closely that He permeates everything we do.
No matter your personality--introverted, extroverted, or somewhere in between--Jesus desires for you to live in community with others. Maybe you don't love big group events or maybe you've never been in a small group before. We encourage you to join us and see what you like.
